Job Title: Paraprofessional

Overview: Horizon Science Academy Cincinnati is seeking dedicated and compassionate Paraprofessionals to support the academic, social, and emotional growth of our students. Paraprofessionals play a crucial role in assisting teachers and staff in creating a positive and inclusive learning environment where all students can thrive. Responsibilities:

• Assist teachers in implementing instructional activities and supporting student learning in small groups or one-on-one settings.
• Provide support to students with diverse learning needs, including those with disabilities, English language learners, and students who may require additional academic or behavioral support.
• Supervise students during classroom activities, transitions, lunch, recess, and other non-instructional times to ensure safety and appropriate behavior.
• Collaborate with teachers and other staff members to implement behavior management strategies and interventions that promote a positive and respectful learning environment.
• Assist in preparing instructional materials, setting up classroom displays, and maintaining a clean and organized learning environment.
• Support students in accessing and utilizing educational technology tools and resources under the guidance of classroom teachers.
• Foster positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues, demonstrating empathy, patience, and professionalism in all interactions.
• Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills related to working with students and supporting instructional goals.
• Perform other duties as assigned by classroom teachers, special education staff, or school administrators to meet the needs of students and support the overall functioning of the school.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree or higher preferred.
• Previous experience working with children or adolescents in an educational or youth-oriented setting preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with students, families, teachers, and other staff members in a diverse and inclusive school community.
• Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to support the academic and social-emotional growth of all students.
• Ability to follow directions, work independently, and demonstrate flexibility in responding to the needs of students and staff.
• Willingness to undergo background checks and meet any additional requirements for employment in a school setting.
